One Voice for Uganda's ICT Sector

The ICT Association of Uganda is a multi-stakeholder initiative formed by private individuals with the vision of providing professional guidance to individuals and organizations in the private sector, and advisory services to government on policy-based issues.

We conduct and disseminate research, advocate for enabling policies, and establish projects concerning the adoption and usage of development informatics — extending the reach of ICTs to all sectors and facets of Uganda through professionalism.

We work across four strategic pillars to advance Uganda's digital transformation agenda.

ICT Industry Development

Developing and promoting a competitive ICT industry in Uganda, supporting the establishment of a technology hub and nurturing local software and mobile application development.

Policy & Governance

Becoming the principal partner in governance and e-systems implementation, advocating for enabling ICT policies and representing members' interests at the highest levels.

Research & Innovation

Driving a national system of innovation, conducting and disseminating research on development informatics, and positioning Uganda as a global ICT innovator.

Digital Inclusion

Increasing ICT access and adoption for all Ugandans, particularly the underserved, and bridging the digital divide between urban and rural communities.

Capacity Building

Accelerating development of ICT skills in secondary and tertiary institutions, running graduate training sessions and workshops for the next generation of tech leaders.

Global Connectivity

Building formal partnerships with regional and international ICT stakeholders, creating pathways for Ugandan professionals to access global ICT opportunities.

Tracing ICTAU's growth from inception to becoming Uganda's leading ICT advocacy body.

2014

Foundation

ICTAU was formally established by private ICT practitioners with the vision of unifying Uganda's technology sector under one credible voice.

2016

First Annual Summit

ICTAU hosted its inaugural Uganda Digital Innovation Summit, bringing together 300+ professionals, government officials, and technology entrepreneurs.

2018

Policy Engagement

Successfully submitted position papers on the Electronic Transactions Act and actively participated in the review of Uganda's National ICT Policy.

2019

Regional Membership

ICTAU joined the Eastern Africa ICT Associations network, forging ties with sister organizations in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

2021

Digital Skills Program

Launched the ICTAU Digital Skills Initiative, training over 2,000 youth in 15 districts across Uganda in coding, digital marketing, and ICT entrepreneurship.

2024

400+ Members

ICTAU surpassed 400 registered members and launched its upgraded digital platform, expanding services to include online resources, e-events, and member networking tools.
